It is the Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute’s pleasure to announce that the 2025 winner of our bursary is Nayani Catry-Bauer. It is Nayani’s dream to become a large animal veterinarian which is a professional needed throughout the agricultural community. In addition to maintaining an outstanding academic record she has volunteered on local farms, raised chickens and rabbits, and trained her horse. This volunteer experience led to a part time job working with the local veterinarian where Nayani has gained experience that will serve her well in her upcoming studies. She plans to enroll in the Honours Baccalaureate of Science in Biology at the University of Victoria, then on to a school of veterinarian science.

Congratulations, Nayani! The Farmer’s Institute wishes you well in your upcoming academic journey.

The Salt Spring Island Farmers’ Institute respectfully acknowledges that we live, work, and gather on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the Hul’q’umi’num’- and SENĆOŦEN-speaking Nations. We honour their enduring connection to these lands and waters, and are grateful for their ongoing leadership, knowledge, and stewardship since time immemorial.
